About this item

• FAMILY OWNED FOR GENERATIONS: Meinl is a German family name and market-leading global brand of professional percussion instruments; the company was founded 1951 in Gutenstetten, Germany, and our generations-long family ownership continues today
• WHY IT MATTERS: we keep a family culture of loyal employees that have a passion for music and gear; this allows us to develop deep ties with world-class producers and innovate quickly—resulting in outstanding quality professional instruments
• ZOOM IN: the Meinl Sonic Energy Octave Steel Tongue Drum has a light and immersive sound similar to a handpan; the handpan effect comes from each note consisting of two octaves (high and low) that give you the full spectrum when you strike them
• HOW IT WORKS: it's simple—use the mallets to tap the steel tongues in any order (there are no wrong notes); the tongues are pre-tuned to a scale, so their notes complement each other
• DRIVING THE SOUND: made with coated high-quality stainless steel, and equipped with protective feet to place on any surface; a port on the underside with removeable silicone plug allows for sound control
• COMES WITH MALLETS AND BAG: includes wood mallet pair with soft yard wrapped rubber heads and padded travel bag; the mallets draw relaxing tones from the drum
• BY THE NUMBERS: 10" x 10" x 5.5", 4.1 pounds; eight octave pitches tuned to B Minor scale (F#3, G3, B3, C#4, D4, E4, F#4, G4)
• THE TAKEAWAY: you'll be able to play simple tunes in minutes with practically no learning curve; recommended to anyone wanting a soft, tranquil steel drum tone for sound therapy sessions, meditation, yoga, ASMR, playing at home, or in a classroom
